Effective solution for Cyberbullying by a 15 year Old Indian Origin Preeti Baid August 21, 2015 YMK 3576 Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology such as cell phones, computers, and tablets as well as communication tools including social media sites, text messages, chat, and websites. Examples of cyberbullying include mean text messages or emails, rumors sent by email or posted on social networking sites, and embarrassing pictures, videos, websites, or fake profiles. Trisha Prabhu, a 15-year-old student at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Illinois has developed a effective computer program called Rethink to stop cyber bullying. In 2013, Trisha heard about young girl’s suicide due to bullying on the Internet and set out to find a long-term solution to cyber-bullying. Her research led her to create this product which would be soon available as Google Chrome extension. It gives adolescents a second chance to think if they really want to post a message to someone on social media which could be mean, offensive and hurtful. It has been tested that given a second chance for consideration, 93 percent of them prevented themselves to post an offensive message. As many people are suffering from Cyberbullying, this product is today’s need and hence it has been promoted and covered on Business Insider, International Business Times, Huffington Post and several other media outlets.
