7 Signs of a Weak Immune System Dr. Kamini Jain July 29, 2020 Health & Beauty 1865 With the number of diseases growing every year, it is crucial that we have a strong immune system to avoid falling ill. Unfortunately, most of us have a weakened immune system and don’t even realize it. It is very important to figure out if you have a weakened immune system or not. Only then can you work towards solutions to help and strengthen it again. Here are some signs that can help you in identifying a weak immune system: 1. You are Experiencing Digestive Problems There is enough evidence to show that a weakened immune system often leads to the development of chronic digestive ailments. It can be because of the fact that a majority of our immune system tissues are situated in our digestive tract. Issues such as constipation, bloating and gas are all early signs that your body has a weak immune system. If you notice that you are experiencing more digestive problems than you used to before, and they are showing no signs of subsiding, you need to get in touch with your doctor. Aside from that, you should immediately start strengthening your immunity. 2. You are very Susceptible to the Common Cold One of the simplest ways to judge your immune system is to keep a track of the number of times you are getting infected with a cold. If you notice that the frequency with which you are getting infected with a cold or with any other common virus is more than a few times a year, it is a definite sign that your immune system is not strong enough to fight off these viruses. 3. Constant Fatigue Feeling tired without doing much lately? It could be a sign that your immune system has weakened significantly. If your immune system is not strong, it would take double the effort for your body to fight off even the common infections. This will lead to your energy being drained at a faster rate and you will feel tired even if you don’t engage in a lot of activities. Symptoms like loss of appetite and ache in joints also point towards a weak immune system. 4. You get a lot of Sinus Infections Getting too many sinus infections in a year is a sign that your immune system is producing immune cells at a very slow rate or that the cells which it is producing are not functioning properly. Generally, more than two sinus infections in a year are a cause of concern. 5. You are taking Longer to Heal Along with falling sick constantly, another thing you should keep an eye out for is how long it takes for you to get better. If common problems like the cold are troubling you for more than three or four days it means that your immune system is weak. It is taking a long time to fight off the infections. If you see that you are taking longer to get better after falling ill, you should consult your doctor and discuss ways to boost your immune system. 6. Constant Ear Infections Ear infections are pretty common in people who have a weak immune system. Generally, getting one or two ear infections within a year doesn’t necessarily mean that your immune system is weak (though it does mean that you need to take better care of your health). However, if you find yourself coming down with four or more ear infections in a year, you should definitely worry about the strength of your immune system. 7. A lot of Fungal Infections If you notice fungal infections on your skin or a persistent thrush in your mouth, you should immediately contact your doctor as they are often signs of an underlying illness. If they are not, and you are still experiencing these symptoms constantly, it means that your immune system has weakened. Take the Proper Steps! Once you figure out if your immune system has weakened, you need to build its strength back up. Consume immunity-boosting foods and follow practices that will help you get back its full strength. You should also consult your doctor to ensure that your weak immune system isn’t pointing towards a serious underlying illness. SHARE THIS POST
